ANDREW BENTEAU, DIGITAL MARKETING
“I started small in my digital marketing career, working out of an actual closet, promoting the leisure cruise industry in my hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland. You’ve probably never heard of Newfoundland, and if you have, you’ve certainly never been there.
I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, and although the program was highly theoretical and rarely, if ever, delved into digital strategy, I was always fascinated by the world of digital marketing for its ability to quantify business outcomes in such a short amount of time. My curiosity led me to Grenoble, France where I worked as Digital Marketing Specialist for an audio-guide manufacturer, eventually ending up in New York City where I worked for three years as Marketing Manager.
In that time, I’ve learned many valuable lessons. My favourite, from a wise digital marketer, is this: “Action without thought is worth very little. Thought without action is worth nothing at all.” I hold that philosophy close in my work. Although it’s true that data is extremely valuable to the decision making process, it can never fully predict human behaviour. That’s where action comes in; the willingness to try, make mistakes, and become better every day.”
